Do those Auto-Armour protective coverings for car paint make sense or are they a ripoff?

I am buying a new car, and that is one of the aftermarket options. It makes sense to spend a little to keep the paint looking good, but does this covering look good and keep the paint as good as it claims, or am I just better off repainting in a few years?Do those Auto-Armour protective coverings for car paint make sense or are they a ripoff?
Just about all cars now days are Clear Coated and that is usually all you need. Anything else is just a way for them to make money. IF you live next to Satlwater (beach) so to say, it may help OR it may not as salt will eat just about anything anyway. I would not waste my money as Clear Coating is STANDARD anymore.Do those Auto-Armour protective coverings for car paint make sense or are they a ripoff?
The reason we have a clear coat was to protect the paint and give it a high gloss finish. Paint manufactures these days add very little to the actual paint make up to protect it from the elements. The clear coat adds durability and shine to most all factory painted cars. The government forced paint manufactures to remove harmful additives from their formulas which weakened the paints durability and gloss.The Armour Shields that are offered by new car dealers is a good idea if you don't do any regular waxing or polishing to your car.A Teflon based product that is very tough on UV rays,acid rain,bird droppings


and all other air pollutants that can cause your cars finish to dull. The only problem with that is if your car is in an accident and needs a new body panel , it has to be re-finished with the same Teflon coating.Its possible the product no longer is offered by the dealer or is available through another shop at a greater price.

you would probably be better off just using a wax like meguiars nxt generation and save yourself some money
