DO NOT use mineral spirits.... Any residual spirits in the gun will cause ';fish eyes'; in the next paint job...... Use laquer thinner... DO not use acetone or trichlorethyline... That stuffs great for getting overspray off chrome bumpers but eats the plastic parts in the gun.... ALSO do not use turpentine -- That stuff will cause ';fish eyes'; in the paint finish.... Fish eyes are those imperfections where the paint doesnt stick to the surface and makes what looks like small holes - fish eyes is what we call those in the paint shops around here...What do I use to clean my HVLP auto paint gun. Do I use laquer thinner? Mineral spirits?
i use lacquer thinner on mine,i have two of those and unless it says not to with the booklet you got with it,you can use it,there's not much to clean on those normally if its a cup over gun, just the cup and the end nozzle is all that usually needs cleaned,i let thinner set in mine over night and then spray it all out the next day,and then run clean thinner back through it again,i have had mine for a few years and they work fine as long as you keep them clean, when they get dirty though they wont spray at all, good luck with it.
