I have a few scratches on my hood and a chip in the paint on my door. Can I buy a bottle of touchup paint in my car's color and just dab it on like nail polish? Or is there more skill and finesse involved? Can I buy a bottle of auto touchup paint and fix my car myself?
is your car faded? or does it have the paint that reflects with a sparkle like finish?
you can use the touch up..especially if the car is new and the scratch is small..u may notice a little difference in paint.
but it keeps it from rusting and only u will know it is there. Can I buy a bottle of auto touchup paint and fix my car myself?
Walmart sells a ';nail polish type'; touch up paint/pen in their automotive area. But, as noted above, there may be a color variation....they got the major colors, but depending on the vehicle's color, if it's faded, etc. the paint may not match up 100% - but as stated, atleast it'll stop the spot from rusting.
Also, I've heard of some people using regular nail polish as touch up paint, but can't vouch for this....I'm sure it's more intended for ';temporary'; fixing... hehehe.
if the scratches are minor all the touch-up paint will do is hide the scratch by color, the scratch will still be there but less noticed from distance. You should get the touch-up paint from the local dealer to assure correct color match. On the label inside driver door should have paint code depending on what make your vehicle is
chances are its problably going to be like an 80% match of color but still noticable if the chips reveal the primer and it stands out too much then just fix the paint spots theres not much skill required
you can get those little bottles of paint that has a small brush in it and touch it up.
