How can you bring shine back to faded auto paint?

94 nissan sentra(black). Already washed it with comet, made it more dull. How can you bring shine back to faded auto paint?
go to auto zone and get the stuff called (color back)you better have plenty of rags.it will take the dullness out.it also polishes your car,the same time. How can you bring shine back to faded auto paint?
Comet is abrasive, and will sand your paint/clearcoat smooth, but it also takes it off. However, it would never make your piant shine. Painters do indeed sand their paint jobs, but with paper many times finer than Comet, and using techniques to bring out the shine, before clearcoating. I am afraid you probably damaged the car's paint beyond your repair (hence the dullness after the Comet). However, you could just try a good quality wax (Meguiars offers a 3 step system to clean, polish and wax) and an orbital buffer to minimize further damage. If that doesn't work, see if you can get the guy who gave you the comet idea to pay for a new paint job.
go get some wax and a buffer and buff the car it should make the car shine again if the sun hasn't messed up the paint to bad
You'll need wax. Comet is abrasive, like using sandpaper. That might make it smooth, but it is way too coarse to make it shine.

Why don't people use car products on cars? You don't use Turtle Wax in your bathtub, do you?
i own a repair shop, and you don't wash it with comet,,that will dull it right down you usually wash it and use a mild rubbing compound on it and a buffer to get it to shine again,it may be ruined now, especially if it was clear coat, you may have just scrubbed the clear off of it,good luck.
Use Color Back on it it is available at Wal Mart it works like wax but does a good job on faded paint
THE REASON YOU PAINT IS DULL TO START WITH IS THAT PAINT AS WELL AS CLEAR COATS ARE A LIVING MATERIAL . AS IT AGES IT DIES JUST AS ANYTHING ELSE. NISSANS HAVE A BASE COAT CLEAR COAT SYSTEM ON THEM . SO THE THING YOU NEED TO DO IS BRING BACK THE CLEAR. IT IS BEST TO TAKE IT TO A PRO DETAIL SHOP AND HAVE IT BUFFED OUT WHICH IS A PRICEY . BUT IT NOT AS BAD AS A COMPLETE PAINT JOB WHICH COULD RUN AS HIGH AS 1000.00 DOLLARS SO IF YOU CAN SPEND A 150.00 TO GET THE SAME THING THATS THE WAY TO GO. TO TRY TO DO THIS YOURSELF MIGHT BE MORE COSTLY SO SPEND THE MONEY AND LET THE PRO'S HANDLE IT .
at this point you need professional help.take it to an auto detailer and see if they can buff it out.DO NOT TRY TO DO IT YOURSELF!!! Your paint is already 13-14 yrs old (if it's the original paint) and you pretty much sanded it with the comet, you could burn the paint off that thing in a heartbeat with a buffer. It should cost you between 100 to 200 bucks to have it buffed out but will be well worth it,after that just keep it waxed and will stay all slick and shiny.

BTW do your headlights, tailights, side and rear, glass too
