I just recently acquired a new car. I normally drove my old one through the car wash to save time. I figure I should put in more effort on washing the new car.
Being a girl.. who doesn't have much strength and ';interest';, what's the easiest product/way to wax or protect my car after washing it w/ water/soap?
THANKS!Looking for a good/easy to use product to wax/protect auto paint?
I'm not sure of how well it protects, but I have used Turtle Wax spray on, you just spray it on, wait till it dries and do a really quick once-over with a clean cloth. Shines very well, and seems to last longer than regular wax on / wax off.
For the best protection, I:
Wash, wax on, wax off, spray on every two wks.
--Then--
Every couple of days, quick wash, spray on.
The best things you can do to take care of your car would be to keep it under 80MPH to prevent chipping the paint,
Wash, wax and armor-all frequently
USE SYNTHETIC OILS ONLY!
Change your oil every 2500 miles.
I hope you enjoy your new car. If you take care of it, it will take care of you for many years. Use synthetic oil and wax it and you'll have it for 15+ years. Oh, and be easy on the tranny too. If you can, put the gear selector in ';3'; or regular ';Drive'; *not OD* in stop and go to prevent ';hunting'; or too much shifting. Don't do 5,000 RPM take offs, don't tow heavy things or overload the inside with heavy objects. New cars are of such high quality, if you take care of them you'll never have a lick of trouble.
Have fun!

Hi SHH
Only use soap formulated for vehicle wash/wax - never use dish or laundry soap.
I like Blue Coral liquid gel wax. It does not leave residue on black vinyl accessories/parts.
Never wash in the sun - unless you spray water over the vehicle every few minutes to keep tap water lime from water spotting, ( as you may know - soft water and rain water do not water spot).
Towel down as soon as finshed - to avoid the water spotting.
well
first is the washing
hopefully youre using car soap
and not dish detergent
hopefully you use the 2 bucket method
and i also suggest getting some grit gaurds
as for waxing
meguiars nxt 2.0 tech wax
as its actually a paint sealant and will last longer than a typical wax
can find it at walmart
apply with a microfiber applicator
just odnt get any on trim/porous surfaces
let it dry for 15-20 min
then wipe off wiht a microfiber towel
You really can make your paint last as long as you want. I promise you that you will get bored by your car and paint, long before your paints ability to last and look fabulous doing it. Just know, there is more bad information out there than good information.
If you follow my source link, I have laid out the 2 simple things you need to make your paint last as long as you want, and look fabulous doing it. It really can be simple...
turtle wax ';ice';......comes in a few different versions but is easiest to use because it is clear and so if u miss a spot or get some where it shouldn't b u cant see the white haze...
