you would get a better paint job from a roller than a spray can, take it to maaco if you want a crappy job, you get what you pay for when painting a car. What is the difference between auto spray paint guns and auto spray cans? Can I paint a whole car using cans?
Aside from providing an uneven spray pattern theirs something a bit bigger to consider. The quality of the paint is not going to be the same, especially in the case of clearcoat. The clear is meant to keep your basecoat from fading %26amp; to do that you need an activated clear. The lacquer clearcoat from the cans does not provide much basecoat protection and will fade very quick, you need a mixable clear (called a 2k) that uses a hardener. I would strongly recommend spending a little more on some proper materials as the paint will last much longer, I know around here you can even pick up a spray gun that will get the job done for under $30!
If you do use spray cans, there is a plastic handle with a trigger that you can buy that snaps onto the top of the spray can to help control the spray.I painted my truck with primmer that way, very few runs or blotchy patches.Your looking at probably 25 cans of paint.2 for each door,so that's 8 cans for a 4 door,easy,2-3 for the hood,2-3 for the trunk,at least 2 for one fender.so that's 4,then the quarter panels,,so I would get 25 then take back what you don't need...You need to wet sand, not just sand, and use a block palm sander, not just your hand,or a power sander.
you will not be able to avoid the streaking that comes from useing a spray can because you are not aplying enough paint at one time to cover fully.if you try you will get runs.with a paint gun in a booth its much faster with better results.good luck.
A spray gun will do a more even paint job. Using a spray can will give you a crap job.
it will look horrible
