I painted the rear quarter panel on my black BMW and it looks OK so far. I have used a buffing compound by hand and the paint is still a little dull. I have a powerful circle electric buffer, but don't know how to use it. What is the technique used to get a final polish. Do you use polishing compound while polishing.. do you polish it until it turns to a powder? What products work best for a finish? What is the technique used to get a final polish on auto paint job?

Buffing it isn't what will make it shiny. Actually what it needs is clear coat. It both gives it the shine and protects the paint. If you are buffing until it is turning into a powder you are probably wearing the paint that off that you just put on. Probably 2 or 3 coats of clear coat should match the rest of your car pretty well.. Make sure it is clean and smooth before the clear coat though.
