They sell small vials of touch up paint at Auto Zone. What's the best inexpensive way to repair a chip in auto paint to prevent rust?
Touch up paint sold at any parts supply store. I had to buy some last summer and I think it cost $14, but quite possibly it's less.
you can get a small bottle of paint about the size of nail polish from the dealer then use some wax on it you can use the spray kind if you want. if you don't want to pay for the paint then use the spray wax every other day just on the scratch that will help but it should take like 10 min to put the pain on and for it to dry
Go to a dealer and get the exact paint color of your car. Don鈥檛 mess around with generic auto part store paint. A cheesy mismatch could hurt your resale value.
Duplicolor touchup paint is sold at most autoparts stores. Its factory matched to most paint colors.
All of these folks are correct except for the peel the paint off guy. You can get touchup paint at any auto store like O'Reillys or AutoZone, etc. Though it is less expensive in these place it's a bit of a crap shoot on the color matching. Even colors from the dealership vary within the color code on your vehicle.
The safest way to make sure that you are close to the actual color of your vehicle is to buy a vial of touchup paint from the dealership. Do not wax the color until much, much later, I would say around 30 days later. As long as chemicals are escaping from that paint, you don't want to lock them under a coat of wax.
Try and keep your touchup paint inside of the rock chip so it will, in effect, fill the chip, as well as color it.
Also at the parts store you may find a new product called colored compound. This material is applied to your vehicle like wax. Rub it in and wipe it off. This product takes all of the scratches out of your clearcoat, while filling the ';chips'; and ';deep scratches'; with color. Though I haven't used it yet, it may be worth looking into for a cheap fix.
Good luck.
Rip the ~~REST~~ of the paint off, and say its your new CARS COLOR!!!
Thats pretty cheap...
