You can buy auto paint in just about any grade that you want at a good auto parts / paint store. The cost of paint has little to do with the quality. It has more to do with the technology that is used to apply it. Body shops need paint that will do certain things in order to speed up their production. That cost more than paint that can be applied without a bake booth.
